Transportation Planning
Transportation Planning is an ongoing partnership between Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and the Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD). The Transportation Planner effectively acts as a liaison between the Cabinet and the local communities in an effort to plan the development of the region’s transportation system. While the focus is primarily on highway transportation, other modes, such as air, rail, and river transportation, are also elements of this work program.
The primary function of the LCADD is to support the KYTC’s long-range planning process by analyzing transportation data, identifying and evaluating the needs of the region, evaluating and prioritizing projects for the possible inclusion in the Six-Year Highway Plan, and coordinating a process for public input.
The LCADD Regional Transportation Committee is comprised of a diverse group of permanent members from within the LCADD area. The LCADD Regional Transportation Committee meets quarterly at noon central time on the first Thursday of the months of March, June, September, and December in the LCADD main office in Russell Springs, KY.
